Meadowbank Village
Located in the leafy street known as 56 Meadow Crescent, Meadowbank, is Medi Aids large block of independent living units. These are made available to elderly residents with financial difficulties. There is no entry fee, simply a modest weekly rental. This is largely recoverable from the "government rental allowance" (Apply Centrelink).
The brick and tiled building is comfy, with pleasant gardens, and plenty of parking at the rear. Many residents have their own flower garden, so there is generally a splendid array of flowers and shrubs. External maintenance is carried out by others. The residents must be able to care for themselves.
Meadowbank railway station is nearby, with a small shopping precinct. Not far is the "Rivercat" wharf, with water access to Parramatta and Sydney and many intervening stops. (Many enjoy visiting other suburbs this way, as one ticket covers the whole day). Medi Aid operates other villages on a similar basis described on www.mediaid.org.au.
