Vimiera Village

Dr Wright (aka Dr John F. Knight AM) is Chairman of Medi Aid Centre Foundation which operates Retirement Villages for the elderly in both Sydney and Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.

There are purpose built villages (such as Vimiera Village, at Eastwood, Sydney), or blocks of apartments in Sydney suburbs (Eastwood, Epping, West Ryde). Most are close to Macquarie Shopping Centre, other shops, public transport, medical and other essential services, churches, banks, garages, theatres, hospitals.

Also, there are a large number of individual units in high rise buildings. Most of these are on or near the main surf beach, and in the heart of the shopping and recreational areas, and most essential services.

Some operate under the Resident Funded System (similar to church and community organisations). Others are available to elderly persons without a home or unable to afford normal commercial rentals. For the latter, there is no entry fee, simply a weekly rent about 50-60% of rentals in a similar building.
